Nicole: Welcome to Multitudes. I'm Nicole Carter and I'm hosting a new podcast about multitudes of conversations with different guests, where we will hear about their stories, what motivates them, their perspectives about life, and what they find meaningful.
This podcast will talk about different topics such as what people are passionate about, thinking about spirituality, health, identity, individuality, social justice topics, finding community, being introspective, and being creative while living with complexity and duality.
My hope is that this can be a place for you to tune into for insightful and interesting conversations, and maybe a new perspective on something that you have been wrestling with or something that you have wanted to learn more about. The idea of Multitudes came from Walt Whitman's work of poetry, Leaves of Grass, in which he writes:
Do I contradict myself?
Very well then, I contradict myself. (I am large, I contain multitudes.)
This concept of containing multitudes, for me, relates to the idea that human beings are multi-dimensional, paradoxical, and we can desire many things and change our realities over the course of our lifetimes and in a most expansive way that we are limitless in our potential outcomes and possibilities.
And I also like the idea that the Multitudes podcast is a place where ideas are not limited and topics are not limited. Just in the same way that staying curious about life is not limited. And that is what I hope will be the connecting theme for this podcast and for this community of listeners.
